Alex Diego was born a healthy 9 lb (4 kg) baby to his 19 year old mother. He began to lose weight since his mother’s breast milk dried up and he could not drink other milk. Alex’s mother brought him to the hospital and was referred to our center. Alex was admitted to Casa Jackson on November 2,2009 with a level of malnutrition requiring immediate attention. He weighed 11 lb (5 kg) at the age of 5 months.
