D.O.B. January 8, 2009
Yessenia Angelica’s family of 8 has no water and no toilet in their small hosue. Her dad work as a laborer but there isn’t always work for him, so sometimes he helps his wife to wind thread. The family is very large and does not have the resources to live day-to-day, they all sleep on floor mats and only a few had a sheet. During the pregnancy of Angelica’s mother, no measures were taken for appropriate care. She was born very small and with a very weak immune system. She was declining every day and her family took her to the village’s doctor. The doctor told them to take the child to the health center. The family ignored this and Guatemalan Social Services were forced to step in. On January 7, 2010, the Attorney General of the Nation picked up Angelica and brought her to the Casa Jackson. The family refused to transfer the child so it was necessary to use police forces to remove the child from the home. The family was also taken the Casa Jackson for the admission of the child. Angelica's parents now have a court order allowing them to visit the girl. She was admitted to Jackson House on January 7, 2010 with a weight of 18 lb (8 kg).
