D.O.B. November 7, 2008
Claudia Maria comes from a family in a nearby town to San Felipe. She is the only child in her family and she
and her parents live with the father’s parents.
They are a very poor family and when Claudia’s mother wasn’t able to
produce breast milk, they were feeding Claudia water from boiling corn because
they couldn’t afford milk. He makes 600 quetzales
(roughly $75) a month as a farmer. He
gives this to his mother to feed the family.
She only feeds them two small meals a day. This lead to both Claudia and her mother
being malnourished. She was came to the
Casa Jackson on November 24, 2009 weighing 14 lb (6.4 kg) after being referred
from a nearby hospital. She left on December 15, 2009 weighing 15.5 lb (7 kg) to return to her family.
